Get Involved in the National BIM Standard-United States® Project Committee

The National Institute of Building Sciences Building Information Management (BIM) Council is calling all building professionals to participate in the development of National BIM Standard–United States® (NBIMS-US™)

NIBS welcomes the participation of all sectors of the built environment. To get involved in the NBIMS-US™ development process, individuals and organizations need to take the following steps:

  1. Join the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS). As a member of NIBS, you will become eligible to participate in a number of Institute councils, including the Building Information Management (BIM) Council. When joining, select your preferred membership or sponsorship level and create an account. Once registered, you will receive a welcome letter via email (within the next business day) with instructions to select the councils on which you would like to participate.
  2. Join the Building Information Management (BIM) Council and the NBIMS-US Project Committee. If you are already a member of NIBS, but not yet a Building Information Management (BIM) Council member or an NBIMS-US Project Committee member, fill out the National BIM Standard–United States® Project Committee Application Form and submit. (Only members of the NBIMS-US Project Committee can submit ballots and vote on changes to the standard.).
  3. During the NBIMS-US™ consensus cycle, you will receive instructions on how to access the portal, review ballots and cast your votes.
